For the most part, teeth whitening is safe—as long as it’s done correctly. What most people don’t realize before having their teeth whitened is this: because you’re dealing with live tissue (unlike hair or nails), teeth whitening can cause damage, pain, and sensitivity. The safest way to use a whitening agent like peroxide is to have a custom tray created by your dentist, then use gel refills to freshen your tooth color every 24-48 months. I’ll cover these in detail below, but there are several methods of teeth whitening I do not recommend because of safety concerns.

The Smile Practice are proud to be trusted Invisalign experts in Oxford & Didcot, offering a fantastic range of clear braces at very competitive prices. Our orthodontic team include highly experienced dentist Dr Ajay Murgai, GDC No:85639, who has over 15 years cosmetic dentistry experience and is also a Dental Phobia Certified dentist. All of our dentists are members of the General Dental Council (GDC) and our clinics are regulated and regularly monitored by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and British Dental Association Good Practice Member (BDA), so you can rest assured you’re in safe hands with our expert Invisalign team. Teeth whitening guide. Do you wish to maintain healthy teeth and gums? Here are a few tricks: Chew Gum That Contains Xylitol: Multiple studies have shown that chewing gum that contains xylitol twice daily helps fight tooth decay by lowering plaque buildup. Brands like Trident make gums with this ingredient, so pick up a pack and get chewing if you’re looking to whiten your teeth. Tooth-whitening strips will help get rid of tooth stains. These strips are very thin, virtually invisible, and are coated with a peroxide-based whitening gel. You wear them a few minutes daily for a week or more. Results are visible in just a few days, and last at least a year. The results with strips are not as dramatic as with whitening kits, but the strips are easy to use and pretty much foolproof.

Your lips will not only appear more attractive, they’ll also feel healthier, softer and more hydrated. You may not be happy with the natural size and shape of your lips or the fact that the ageing process has caused them to become thin and lack definition. Lip enhancement treatments are a safe and natural way to create lips that make you feel beautiful and can combat fine smokers’ lines, issues including lack of volume, wrinkles, smile lines, cupid’s bows, lowered corners and oral commissures. Lip treatments can also dramatise the impact of lipstick and minimise ‘lipstick bleed’ which sometimes occurs at the lip border. At The Smile Practice, we are your trusted aestheticians, offering you the best lip filler treatments in Oxford & Didcot. Read more info at lip enhancement Didcot and Oxford.

How do we straighten patients’ teeth? Our orthodontists offer patients at both our Didcot and Oxford practices five of the best and different approaches to straightening and correcting their teeth so that they no longer need to hide their smile. There are dozens of teeth straightening solutions provided around the world by orthodontics research companies. Our orthodontists have chosen to train for and specialise in five unique approaches so that our patients can choose the one which suits their lives and their needs the best. It’s understandable but many adult patients are put off by the idea of orthodontic teeth straightening because they’re worried about the effect traditional braces will have on their appearance. When selecting our final five products, each orthodontist involved in the decision made sure that every solution we offered to our patients would be “invisible”.
